IRR webbing is a type of military webbing that can be printed with anti-infrared camouflage pattern to make it undetectable by infrared night vision devices.irr webbing This webbing is used on military garments, backpacks, vests and tents to conceal the wearer from infrared scanning equipment. The webbing can also be coated with a special infrared reflective coating to reduce the thermal signature of the webbing and clothing to that of foliage when viewed through an Infrared camera or other infrared device.

Infrared reflective webbing, also known as irr webbing or IR reflective webbing, is a type of nylon or polyester webbing with a coating that reflects or transmits less light in the infrared spectrum. This webbing is used on military gear, such as uniforms, armor and weapons, to reduce the heat generated by the soldier or civilian in contact with the equipment and thus improve thermal efficiency. IRR webbing is available in 19mm, 25mm, 38mm and 53mm twill.

irr webbing has been in use by the British Armed Forces since 1989, and is still Britain’s core issue webbing system for infantry soldiers and commandos. The webbing is designed to be modular and is compatible with ECBA body armour and helmets. irr webbing is currently available in MTP (Multi-Terrain Pattern) form. In this form, it is issued to non-deployed infantry and Parachute Regiment units, while Virtus webbing is favored by deployed infantry and their commando counterparts.

Irr webbing can be seen on the PLCE All Arms Assault vest, which is worn by British and Commonwealth forces. The vest is equipped with two ammunition pouches, four utility/water-bottle pouches and two dump pockets. It can also be seen on the Tasmanian Tiger Gunners Deployment IRR backpack, which features laser-cut MOLLE webbing that can be expanded by attaching more pouches.

The MOLLE webbing is secured with plastic tab attachment loops. These loops can be expanded to hold more MOLLE-compatible pouches, and feature IRR treatment to reduce the webbing’s infrared reflection. The webbing is also printed with an anti-microbial finish to prevent bacterial growth, and it can be washed in warm water.

MOLLE pouches can be used to carry everything from hydration bladders to first aid kits. They are also made to be easy to access in the field. The pouches have Velcro closure and are color-coded so accommodation is easily identifiable. They can also be fitted with a CAT tourniquet pouch to allow soldiers to treat their wounds quickly and efficiently in the field.

Many of the pouches have dividing strips to separate magazines and prevent them from rattling around in the pocket. However, some soldiers, especially infantry, remove the dividers to increase capacity and to make it easier to insert and remove magazines. They can then fit three magazines into each pouch, increasing their carrying capacity to 12 rounds per magazine. Alternatively, a single version of the pouch is available for those who do not need as much ammunition storage space. This allows them to carry fewer rounds and save on ammunition costs.
